1. Have a relevant topic or current even already front of mine to discuss
2. Listen! Don’t just be thinking in your head of the next thing you can say
3. If you’re unsure how to move the conversation along repeat the last sentence or 5 words or so the other person said in a tone of voice that transforms them into a question
4. Ask about them, their interests, situation…
5. Practice
